Winston-Salem: Cities

Adam and I were in Winston-Salem to see some friends and their new baby for a bit and then decided to meet one of his co-workers for dinner. Instead of treking to downtown as we usually did we stayed in the "burbs." We went to Cities

As we pull up, colors of yellow, red, and floral prints abound...oh yes, it was prom in NC! The guys all wore white suits and I noticed many of them had matching earrings to their dates' dresses (GHETTO). Anyway, so at least we had fun looking at them and reminscing on the good/not so good prom memories we had back in high school.

As we waited for our friend, we decided to order some drinks. I try various martinis/fruity drinks every once in awhile hoping I will find one I like! Alas, the flirtini made of champagne, vodka, and pineapple still did not delight my taste buds...guess I will continue to stick with beer and wine. Adam ordered a sunset margarita (although it came in a large martini glass??) I laughed as he hurriedly tried to drink it before his male co-worker arrived. We joke because of our drink preferences. Usually Adam will get a "fruit" or vodka drink whereas I stick to beer or wine. Often after Adam orders both our drinks and they are placed before us, we laugh and then switch them.

We started with a crab dip that came with bread (however the bread looked like hamburger buns if you turned it over but Adam disagreed with me). It was good and standard, nothing to write home about though.

For dinner, I ordered the Margarita pizza (add mushrooms) and Adam ordered the Swiss and Bacon Chicken Sandwich with fries. Unfortunately, this pizza was not what I was expecting. It reminded me of those mainly bready personal pan pizzas for kids at Pizza Hut. There was minimal sauce, cheese, and toppings. I ate much less than I usually did. Adam's sandwich looked good but again, standard.

Overall: The restaurant was fine but nothing stood out to make me want to return so we won't. :)

High Point: Fire and Sticks

Adam and I ventured out to Fire and Sticks near his apartment in High Point, NC. I love Hibachi and craved it all week. I also needed to eat it again after a horrible experience in Columbia at Satos. Note to readers: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT SATO for numerous reasons.

PROS: Delicious Food & Sauces
Concise Menu
Very clean/ Great decorations

CONS: Chairs were a bit too close together (Adam felt squashed)
No sesame seeds in the rice (I know, I know...very picky)

As a whole, I look forward to continuing to eat at this establishment. I tend to go with the Shrimp/Steak combo which continuously delights. If you are in the area, you should stop by!

Let's Try Again...

So I started this blog about two years ago (WOW). However, it dropped by the wayside so I am going to try again because I love FOOD and I love WORDS!

Essentially, this blog will be for myself as I find and dine at different restaurants in cities. I will start with a clean slate as I deleted all previous posts.

So here's to my "informal" food critic dream job :)
